GLA Builds Solar Panel Water Wells in Kenya

Let's Provide Clean Water to a Village in Kenya
ZAKAT ELIGIBLE
GLA is partnering with Droplets of Mercy to build solar water wells in Kenya. This project seeks to provide clean, safe, and accessible water, particularly focusing on vulnerable groups such as the elderly, widows, orphans, individuals with disabilities, and the broader community. The goal is to deliver water directly to their doorsteps, improving health, hygiene, and overall quality of life.
By building this well, you will ensure that the villages:
Have A Reliable Water Supply: Provides clean and safe water directly to households, ensuring easy access for all residents.
Benefit from Improved Health and Hygiene: Reduces the incidence of waterborne diseases, enhancing the community's overall health and well-being.
Save Time and Energy: Eliminates distance to collect water, allowing more time for education, work, and family care, particularly for women and children.
Empower Vulnerable Groups: Offers direct water access to vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, widows, orphans, and individuals with disabilities, easing their burden of water collection.
According to the findings from the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme for Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene (JMP), basic drinking water services are still inadequate in Kenya. Alarmingly, 41% of the rural population and 9% of urban residents lack access to these essential services. For these underserved areas, access to
clean water is not merely a convenience; it is a prerequisite for creating an environment conducive to the health and well-being of community members.
According to UNICEF, approximately 319 million people in sub-Saharan Africa do not have access to improved reliable drinking water sources. This not only poses significant health risks but also perpetuates a cycle of poverty and inequality.Furthermore, water scarcity is a pressing issue in many parts of Africa, exacerbated by factors such as climate change, population growth, and inadequate infrastructure. As water resources become increasingly strained, conflicts over access to water are likely to escalate, threatening stability and exacerbating existing social and political tensions. Which charity is best?” The Prophet (SAW) said, “A drink of water.”

At Droplets Of Mercy we have extended our commitment to expand on this action of Sadaqah Jariyah. Water is essential for life and this is a gift that impacts on many folds. To service families in one of the largest dire need areas in the world, Droplets of Mercy has partnered to build water projects across Africa beginning with projects in Kenya and Uganda.
The journey to access is now more accessible than ever, and with your support we can work to ensure that just as your taps at home, our families in Africa will have running water in their taps all day and night. Your support will provide these families the gift of hope - the gift of water.
